Government updates Covid guidance for private rental sector

The government has updated its guidance for agents, landlords and tenants to explain the possession action process in the county courts in England and Wales has been updated.
This brings the guidance into line with broader government lockdown relaxation policies following the move to ‘Step 4’ of the roadmap on Monday of this week.
The information coincides with Propertymark’s best practice guidance, and the key government changes concern ventilation and carrying out repairs and maintenance work, clinically extremely vulnerable people and repairs and maintenance work, and reducing the risk of infection in shared accommodation, accommodation with shared facilities, and overcrowded accommodation.
Key dates to remember are that from August 1 2021, the notice period for cases where there are less than four months of unpaid rent, will further reduce to two months’ notice, and that the Coronavirus Job Retention Scheme - aka the furlough scheme - is in place until the end of September 2021, with employees continuing to receive 80 per cent of wages for hours not worked.
The revised guidance can seen here.

Once seen as ordinary, Attleborough’s semi-detached homes have become some of the strongest performers in the market, showing remarkable long-term growth. Blending space, practicality, and affordability, semis continue to offer wide appeal. This article explores why they remain a favourite for buyers and investors alike.

Buying your first home is an exciting milestone, but it can also feel overwhelming. With so much to consider—budgets, mortgages, legal paperwork, and finding the right property—it’s easy to feel lost in the process. This guide outlines the key things every first-time buyer should know before taking that first step onto the property ladder.

Thinking of selling your Attleborough home? It’s tempting to set a high asking price—after all, it’s your biggest tax-free asset. But overpricing often backfires. Since 2020, more than 1,400 Attleborough homes were withdrawn unsold—many simply priced too high from the start.

That’s despite downturns, political chaos and a cost-of-living crisis. Whether you’ve owned for years or are just getting started, this stat should make every Attleborough homeowner and landlord sit up and take notice.
