The internet is paramount for homebuyers after Covid

Properties without a strong broadband connection could struggle to find buyers in the wake of the Covid-19 pandemic, research from TalkTalk suggests.

Over nine in 10 (93%) potential buyers see having a reliable internet connection as a priority when house hunting, up from just over half (53%) before the Covid-19 crisis.
Nearly two thirds (62%) of Brits admit they would consider not buying a house if it didn’t have a strong, reliable internet connection.
Sian Doyle, consumer managing director at TalkTalk, said: “Moving house is an incredible life milestone and Brits today are taking even more care when choosing a new property.
“With the working from home culture likely to stay, ensuring you have an internet connection you can rely on is vital.”
People consider having a strong connection as more important than double glazing (46%), friendly neighbours (40%), nearby shops (36%) and good transport links (35%).
Only having a garden (75%) and being on a quiet road (56%) are prioritised by more people than the internet.
