Why Attleborough is a Great Place to Live

The historic market town of Attleborough developed as a town during the medieval period and is prominently situated on the A11 between Norwich and Thetford, in the Breckland area of south Norfolk.
The A11 bypass round Attleborough was opened in 1984, the by-pass was then widened and completed in 2007. The last single section of carriageway on the A11 between Thetford and Barton Mills was duelled and completed in 2014, thus meaning that now the entire length of the A11/M11 was now duelled between London and Norwich. The duelled A11 has really proved popular with commuters travelling from Attleborough to Norwich, Thetford, Cambridge and London cutting their journey times significantly.
The Attleborough railway station provides mainline rail services into Norwich and Cambridge with connections from Cambridge to London, the Midlands and the North of England and connections from Norwich providing rail links out to the picturesque North Norfolk Coast, The Broads and into London. Attleborough is a great location for commuters as they can travel to London by train in less than 2 hours, to Cambridge in an hour and to London Stansted Airport direct (without changing) in under 2 hours.
In the 2011 census the population of Attleborough was 10,482 which is sure to have risen since with the investment of new developments that have been built in the last few years.
The town has a rich heritage and there are plenty of charming character properties reflecting the history as well as a range of new builds being built from luxury family homes to affordable starter homes for first time buyers.
We are told that there has been “the right” to hold a weekly Thursday market in the town since 1285. A weekly market is still held today and has recently (in 2004) returned to Queens Square where it is presumed the market was originally held.
Attleborough is a thriving market town with a strong community spirit and a variety of different social groups, there is an abundance of green space with lots of countryside walks and footpaths taking you out to explore the neighbouring villages and picturesque Norfolk landscape, it is the perfect mix of town and country.
There are some great choices of cafes, pubs, independent shops, supermarkets with plenty of community facilities and variety of different restaurants as well.
Attleborough provides 3 tier schooling with 2 primary schools, an academy and a sixth form college as well as various independent nursery schools.
Just a short drive away is Banham Zoo and Thetford Forest High Lodge Centre with its great walks and bike trails.
On the edge of Attleborough (just off the A11) is Peter Beales Roses famed for its world class roses and you can easily enjoy spending an afternoon exploring the rose gardens or a visit to the café.
Attleborough is extremely well located being about an hour from the coast, excellent road, rail and bus links into Norwich and a little further afield to Cambridge, Stansted Airport and London, it really is the perfect place for those who wish to enjoy the best of both worlds of living in a vibrant market town with some beautiful adjoining countryside whilst also benefiting from having excellent communication links to the major roads ways, rail networks and cities in the UK.
